Olajide Julius Faremi

Dr Julius Faremi is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Building, University of Lagos. He is the Subdean, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, University of Lagos. He is also the cluster manager for the Sustainable Construction and Skills Development Research Cluster of the Centre for Urbanization and Habitable Cities, an Africa Universities Research Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence.

Experience & Activities

Dr Julius Faremi is a visiting lecturer at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Pan African University Institute for Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation (PAUSTI) in Kenya. He was also a visiting scholar at Stellenbosch University, South Africa with funding from the Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development, University of Lagos, under the Africa Research Universities Alliance (ARUA), United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) and Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) Partnership Funds.

He holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Building, a Master’s degree (MSc) in Construction Management and a Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D.) in Building. His professional practice and research interest spans construction management and facilities management with a particular interest in building operations and maintenance management.

Dr Faremi is a registered Builder with the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) and a certified Quality Management System (QMS) internal auditor to ISO 9001:2008 standard.

Before joining the academics, he held various Facility Management, Project Management and Construction Management positions in several organizations including Alphamead Facilities and Management Services Ltd, Construction and Allied Technical Services Ltd, Stallion Property and Development Company Ltd, and Cornerstone Construction (Nig) Ltd. Dr Faremi vast experience spans across operational, tactical and strategic building production management, facilities and maintenance management, project planning, project coordination and execution, quality management and performance evaluation, organization management review and gap analysis.

Dr Faremi has successfully mentored over 30 Undergraduate and 10 Post-graduate students through final dissertations and theses respectively. He has over 17 years of industry experience and 12 years of research and teaching experience with over 35 publications in referred journals and learned conference proceedings.
